Product description

The second gold coin from the Czech Mint’s three-part miniseries titled The Fairytale World of Zdeněk Smetana features Štaflík and Špagetka.

Nomen omen is a Latin saying used when a name captures a characteristic trait of its bearer. This is exactly the case with these two inseparable canine friends. A white dog named Štaflík is short but tall with long legs, so he resembles a stepladder. The black dog named Spaghettka is short but long with an elongated body, so she looks like spaghetti. Both lived happily in their doghouse until the mischievous Crow destroyed it. The pups shrugged it off and decided to build a real house, where they love to tinker and are constantly learning new things. However, Vrána discovered that playing pranks was a lot of fun, so she stayed with Štaflík and Špagetka forever. Thanks to the restless bird, ordinary everyday life turns into a genuine adventure…

The coin was designed by medalist Eva Prousková, DiS., who created a faithful relief reconstruction of Zdeněk Smetana’s work. On the reverse side, you will find Štaflík and Špagetka, connected by intertwined scarves. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued under a foreign license from the island of Niue, the obverse side features a portrait of King Charles III, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), and the year of issue 2026.

Don’t forget that the first gold coin came with a special collector’s album, where you can store your complete collection of three fairy-tale coins.
